Who we are

So here it is the full story... First of all, I really appreciate you taking the time to have a read of how Nancy D's got started!

Let me introduce myself... I'm Clare and I live in Dublin, Ireland. More specifically a town called Ballymun, which even though I am obviously biased; I must say is an amazing town full of amazing people and I am very proud to call it home.

My background is in design, specifically Interiors and Furniture and I have also been involved in youth arts in some shape or form for almost 20 years. I had 2 boys, Aaron and Nathan, at a relatively young age and then decided to go back and do a Masters in Community and Youth work after losing my brother, Sean, when he was just 21. I realised if I wanted to make a change in my own community, I needed to get involved with on the ground work. From there, I went on to manage a youth project in Ballymun and even though it is challenging at times, I have to say I love my job. Young people in Ballymun not only inspire me but they also make me laugh every day.

Nancy D's came from an idea I had when out on maternity leave in 2020. Nancy (pictured) was born in April 2020, her sister Molly was born before her in 2018 and her brother Shay was born in 2016. In 2017 we also tragically lost our baby Jacob when he was born at just 22 weeks.

Having babies close together, I was shopping a lot for baby products. I had so many ideas about developing products, a one stop shop for baby items and growing a brand of hardwearing good quality products. To me, passing things down through the family was so important- not only to cut down on waste but for sentimental reasons. I loved the old ways of 'keeping things up' and passing them down and had grown tired of the throw away culture that so many of us had become apart of.

Shortly after setting up Nancy D's, I became a finalist in Pitch 21 in Arnotts department store. Which was an amazing learning opportunity for me and helped drive the business forward. Nancy D's giftboxes were sold in store and online for Christmas and in to 2022. Nancy D’s has also been featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair and Tatler Magazines, alongside the Irish Independent and Guardian newspapers.

I am always working to expand Nancy D's and expand the product range. I never stock any product that I wouldn't use in my own home with my own children and nearly all of the products have already been tried and tested by Nancy and her siblings. I really hope you love the products as much as we do and that you get to pass them down through your family for many years.

Lots of Love
